STATISTICS
NAME Dr. Michael Morbius
AGE Early 40s
DOB October, 10th

HEIGHT 5'10"
BUILD Athletic
HAIR Black
EYES Red, formally blue.

FIRST IMPRESSION
With his rather flat, bat-like nose, ghost-white skin, and red eyes, Michael is very off-putting to most at first. He is very well-spoken and shows his intelligence in most things he does... unless he's hungry. If someone meets him when the hunger is upon him, first impression is probably to run or kill him. He loses most control of himself until the hunger is sated.

ABILITIES & SKILLS & WEAKNESSES

Powers

Pseudo-Vampirism: Morbius has been transformed into a being similar to a vampire and, as a result, possesses several superhuman abilities similar to those possessed by true vampires. Morbius is not a true vampire, as the source of his transformation is scientific, not mystical. However, mystical elements have occasionally been introduced into his system, complicating the issue.

Superhuman Strength: Morbius possesses superhuman strength (the extent of which depends on the amount of blood he has ingested and the type of blood). At his peak, Morbius possesses sufficient superhuman strength to lift approximately 1,500 lbs.

Superhuman Speed: Morbius can run and move at speeds that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Stamina: Morbius' enhanced musculature produces fewer fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of a normal human. He can physically exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before the buildup of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him.

Superhuman Agility: Morbius' agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Reflexes: Morbius' reflexes are similarly enhanced and are superior to those of the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Acute Senses: Morbius' senses of sight and smell are enhanced to levels well beyond that of normal humans. Morbius can detect objects with perfect clarity at much greater distances than a normal human. He retains this clarity, even in near-total darkness. He can also see into the infrared end of the electromagnetic spectrum, allowing him to see individuals at night by their body heat. His sense of smell is similarly enhanced, able to detect the scent of blood in the air from miles away.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Like true vampires, Morbius possesses an accelerated healing factor that enables him to rapidly regenerate damaged bodily tissues much faster and more extensively than a normal human. Injuries such as gunshots, slashes, and severe burns heal within hours or minutes, depending upon their severity. Though highly developed, Morbius' healing powers aren't sufficient to regenerate missing limbs or organs.

Fangs & Claws: Like supernatural vampires, Morbius possesses elongated canines that he uses to pierce the flesh of other beings for the purpose of consuming their blood. Morbius can also, however, use his fangs as weapons in very close combat situations. He also possesses a single retractable claw at the tip of each finger. The claws are very sharp, capable of rending human flesh and bone with ease.

Psionic Gliding: Through mental concentration, Morbius can glide through the air over short distances. However, Morbius can only glide at speeds of about 35 miles (ca. 56 km) an hour.

Mesmerism: After absorbing elements of the Lilin into his bloodstream, Morbius gained the ability to hypnotize others if they look directly into his eyes long enough. While under his control, Morbius typically has full control over an individual. If an individual has sufficient willpower, they can resist or overcome this power.

Immunity To Most Vampire Vulnerabilities: As Morbius isn't a supernatural vampire, he is immune to all the special mystical vulnerabilities that they have. He is unaffected if confronted with religious icons and will not incinerate if exposed to direct sunlight. Morbius does tend to rest during the hours of the day but does not have any of the consequences of vampirism that supernatural vampires face during daylight hours. Morbius also has no special vulnerability to objects or weapons composed of silver or wooden stakes driven through his heart.

Abilities

Genius Intelligence: Morbius is a brilliant scientist specializing in biochemistry. He can also put his hand to various other scientific disciplines, having won the Nobel Prize for biochemistry.

Untrained Fighter:

While he has had no formal training, Morbius' powers make him a formidable combatant against most individuals.

Weaknesses

The one true weakness Morbius has that supernatural vampires possess is that he must ingest fresh blood several times a week to maintain his physical and mental vitality. The longer he goes without blood, the weaker he becomes and the more likely he is to lose control.

While he can't be killed by sunlight, his eyes and skin are sensitive to exposure to sunlight.

Michael was raised by his mother alone in Greece. His father was well known, but not for being his father. Michael never actually met the man, but he knew of him. Makarioa Morbius was a writer, film director, and painter. His mom had just been a girl at a bookstore, the unwanted daughter. She raised him to be kind and polite and hold his manners whenever he could. Not many villains say "please" and "thank you," but Morbius sure as hell does. He feels even if he is a monster now, he still has to hold these values that he was raised with. He is not always the idea of a gentleman; however, he is a smart ass who can snark with the best of them. He is quick to come up with a smart-ass comment to any and everything thrown his way on the drop of a hat. He also hates to be interrupted while working. He will show a temper if people distract him from his work. Michael is a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist specializing in blood. Which is funny given... well, what he is.

He is a very focused individual. He will work hard to meet ends that most wouldn't be bothered with, for example, spending hours in a lab working with She-Hulk's blood to try to stabilize her forms. This was to help her but also to help him further his own research to find his own cure. That's what most of his drive is. To find a cure for his vampiric nature. He never intended to become a living vampire; it was an accident he caused while trying to cure a rare disorder dissolving his blood cells. He was dying. He didn't want his lovely wife Martine to find out, so he tried to cure himself. And, like, things generally happen with Michael. Nothing went according to plan; instead of curing himself, he made himself a vampire, murdered his childhood best friend in a crazy bloodlust, and has been on the run since.

Michael wants to help people; it helps him to deal with the guilt of the things he must do to survive. He never wanted to be a living vampire; God knows he never wanted to kill everyone who got close to him. He certainly didn't want to sit in jail for a few years either just because he has the bloodlust. Okay, so I've mentioned that a few times, his bloodlust. The vampiric effect he deals with gives him a terrible need to intake blood at LEAST once a day; if he doesn't, he will sometimes lose control of himself and kill the closest thing to him. A fine example of this was one of his failed cures: he thought he was fine and was operating on someone and started hearing voices and blacked out. When he woke up in a broom closet, he was covered in blood and had eaten the poor guy he had been working on with no memory of it. Usually he never lets it get that bad.

As stated, he's usually a friendly, motivated kind of guy unless he is hungry; then he tends to get grouchy and violent if he does not satisfy the need. He used to be a rather social person, but due to recent events and a second trip to prison, he's more reluctant to seek people to befriend and talk to. He also worries a lot about hurting people who would otherwise try to befriend him; he doesn't have good luck with lovers and friends. They tend to die because of him. It's hard for him to handle, but it's something he has to do, so even if he's friendly, he will be quick to try to snark someone away these days.

Michael is the reluctant, bitchy hero, and still a villain at the same time. If something needs to be done and no one else wants to, he will bloody well do it. Granted, he will bitch the whole time and tell everyone they are stupid for it. He doesn't have much of a tolerance for stupidity and will be quick to call someone out on it if he feels the need to. He doesn't mind being looked at like a villain even when he saves the day; all he really wants is to find his cure and a chance for redemption for himself.

APPEARANCE
"Your making yourself look bad, Morbius! People like vampires that sparkle now!"
LOOK BOOK
Michael used to be a pretty okay looking guy, no one would say he was a dashing-looking man. Even before the turn he was pale for a Grecian, but that couldn't be helped, due to his isolated childhood. He was born with very pretty blue eyes, lush black hair that has the slightest curl, and a stupid goatee. He was alright, not a supermodel by any means.

However, vampirism didn't do him any favors. It flattened his nose and made him pale as a ghost; his eyes turned red as well.

What it did do for him was turn his thin, sickly body into an oddly muscled thing. He looks ripped more often than not, which is a far cry from the sickly scientist he was before the electro-shock bats. He doesn't have much shame about his body in any respect either; he wears a lot of deeeep V-necks with his costumes; otherwise, he's dressed semi-casual most of the time when he can be. These days he favors jeans and hoodies to hide himself.

With his changing, he has developed thick, long claws, almost glasslike, as one would expect with a vampire. They are often painted black (depending on the artist/style). Morbius is also sporting a mean set of fangs, fangs that never retract. Sadly, on top of his already having a thick Grecian accent, he now has a slight lisp from the perma-fangs. It also seems the longer he goes without feeding, the more ghastly he looks. Let's be real. Marvel can't decide if he's hot or fugly.

Michael is born to his mother; his famous father is already out of the picture. He is raised to read and study and stay indoors, as he was a very ill child. He befriended Nikos before his cognitive memory really started. They were inseparable in their youth despite his mother's dislike of Nikos.

In his early teens, he and Nikos snuck out while his mom was asleep to go poke dead fish with a stick, but Michael got hurt and nearly died. This was a turning point for both boys. Michael stopped going outdoors outside of going to school, and Nikos focused on trying to find a way to help Michael.

The boys finished school and started college. While in college, Michael himself was already becoming famous for his work in biochemistry. When he was in his mid- to late twenties, he won his first Nobel Prize; by the time he won the second one, he was too ill to even collect it or lift a teacup without bones snapping. At some point in this point in time, he met and became engaged to Martine Bancroft, a beautiful socialite who didn't mind his introverted ways.

When the check for the prize cleared, Michael chartered a yacht with the last of the prize money to get them to international waters to try an experiment he and Nikos had come up with but had not yet perfected. Despite Emil's objections, Michael wanted it done on him first and foremost. Meanwhile, Martine insisted on coming along despite not knowing what they were up to. The experiment went terribly, rendering Michael into a living vampire. His first victim… was Emil. He killed his lifelong friend. Overcome with remorse, and fear of hurting Martine, Michael threw himself overboard into the ocean in a pit of suicidal despair.

Arriving in New York, he went through years of hell with Spider-Man and coming to grips with his newfound life. Even serving a prison term of 3 to 5 years for involuntary manslaughter, which he did not fully serve as he was released on good behavior. Jennifer Walters helped get his sentence reduced since technically he was sick and not a real vampire. He went through plenty of trials and tribulations helping the other super scientists of the Marvel Universe, keeping his morally grey/chaotic neutral stance. He will be the first to argue he is no hero, but he isn't exactly a bad guy anymore either. Having helped save the world more than once, and since Ghostrider threatened his ass, he doesn't drink from innocent people anymore, only the wicked.

He's just trying to get by.
